Breaking News! The House of Representatives has reintroduced the SAFE Act to ban horse slaughter!

In Our Hands Action Fund has been working tirelessly on this effort, so we're thrilled the Save America's Forgotten Equine bill (SAFE Act) was brought forward last week by Reps. Jan Schakowsky and Vern Buchanan.

Last year alone over 30,000 of our healthy American horses were shipped to Canada and Mexico for human consumption. Not only is this barbaric, but it's a major consumer safety issue. Horses are given antibiotics and wormers that are toxic if consumed by humans. Why? Because they aren't bred to be consumed by humans! Yet horses continue to be shipped to foreign countries for this exact reason.

Horse slaughter must end this year.
